Pivnenko: Russian forces outnumber Ukrainians 6 to 1 in some Donetsk sectors
After visiting Kharkiv and Donetsk units, the National Guard chief said troops repelled 170+ attacks in a week; mid-range strikes reach 70–100 km.

Frontline visit
National Guard commander Oleksandr Pivnenko visited NGU units in Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts and heard commanders’ reports. He posted this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform, Ukrainska Pravda and LB.ua.
“The situation in these areas remains dynamic. In just one week, our units … repelled more than 170 enemy attacks. The largest number of assaults occurred in the Donetsk region, where in some areas the ratio of advancing enemy forces to our own is 6 to 1,” Pivnenko said.
How the enemy fights
Russian troops continue to use infantry, drones and aircraft heavily, he said. Despite that, Ukrainian soldiers are holding positions, repelling assaults and inflicting losses.
Pivnenko stressed mid-range strikes: Ukrainian units can hit targets 70–100 km behind the line, destroying facilities and logistics before they affect the front. He credited the lack of major enemy breakthroughs over the summer to that work together with UAV operators, artillery, reconnaissance and infantry.
Awards
On Defenders of Ukraine Day he presented state and departmental awards. Ukrainska Pravda notes he also cited a 6-to-1 ratio in some sectors in July.
Why it matters
Acknowledging a sixfold numerical edge for Russia in parts of Donetsk explains why even local Ukrainian successes cost dearly — and why deep strikes on logistics remain vital to holding the line.
